SPEAKING SUMMARY
Cam has enjoyed being invited to several conferences and engagements (both domestically and internationally) on various accounting topics. One of Cam’s favourite speaking topics is public speaking itself, and he has helped literally thousands of accountants improve their ability and confidence in delivering a professional presentation.
TEACHING SUMMARY
Cam actually started his teaching career at his former high school (Ajax High School) in 1990 and developed a passion for teaching he didn’t realize existed until then. He started “moderating” (facilitating) professional programs to designation finalists for CPA Ontario in 1994, and continues to this day to do so. He was proud to start his university teaching career at his alma mater, Wilfrid Laurier University in 1997.
In the past few years Cam has taught for Queen’s University, and The Royal Military College of Canada (RMC). He continues to teach for RMC and has taught courses in both English and French there.
INDUSTRY EMPLOYMENT SUMMARY
Cam began his career in 1992 in the publishing industry as a liaison between Finance and the various business departments, focusing on bringing strategy and accounting together for maximum results. He then turned the focus to technology companies, working for Bell Mobility then Celestica (both fledgling companies at the time) in the late nineties.
In 2000 Cam channeled his professional energies into both academia and consulting (strategy mapping and balanced scorecard) and continues these pursuits to this day.
PUBLICATIONS
An accomplished author, Cam has published multiple monographs and books, the primary topics being strategy mapping and the balanced scorecard. Google Scholar provides the best summary of Cam’s most notable publications (Google Scholar results).
SOCIAL
Cam understands the importance of giving back. His proudest contributions have been coaching (both soccer and hockey), the ongoing organization of “Project Purse” (where donated purses are filled with essentials for women in shelters), and continuously donating blood (he holds his 50-time donor pin in high regard).
